You could not avoid the collision or you were suddenly struck from behind. Either way you have been in an accident and need to know what to do. You are too frazzled to read through a detail list so here is the quick list of what should be done so that information can be properly exchanged.

Answer question and give information as requested by the officer.17. Ask officer for his or her information (badge number & station house) and how to obtain a copy of the police report.18. Leave the accident scene when advised by the police it is okay to do so.19. Find a place to tow vehicle to or drive away if vehicle is not too seriously damaged.20. Contact your insurance company. If other party was at-fault and you are to file a claim contact their insurance company as well.
